Power Price Watch — User Manual

1. Overview

Power Price Watch helps you track electricity spot prices, visualize historical trends, review your consumption, and optimize when you use energy. Most analytic features are available with Premium, and a dedicated Premium screen lets you subscribe or restore purchases.

If the app shows “Waiting for Session Information from companion iOS APP”, open the companion app on your iPhone to establish a session first.

2. Requirements & Data

• Session data: The app expects session information from a companion iOS app before certain features become available.
• Spot prices: Features like Price, Historic Price, and Optimize require spot price data to be present.
• Consumption: The Consumption and YOY tabs require consumption data.

Some destinations may appear dimmed if their required data is missing; you can still open them to learn what’s needed.

3. Getting Started

1. Install and open Power Price Watch.
2. Launch the companion iOS app to provide session information when prompted.
3. On first run, the app may show a Refreshing… indicator while it fetches data.
4. Use the top-right gear icon to access quick actions (Refresh, Reset, etc.).
5. Explore the destinations in the list; locked entries route to the Premium screen.

4. Navigation & Screens

4.1 Price (Live Spot Price)

• What you see: The current price time window (e.g., 13:00–14:00) and a next-price indicator: ↑ (rising), ↓ (falling), or → (unchanged).
• Gauge: Circular gauge compares current price to today’s min/max. Labels show min and max; the current value is color-mapped along a green→yellow→red gradient.
• Tip: If the gauge is red and an upcoming arrow is ↓, consider shifting flexible loads (EV charging, heating, laundry) to the next, cheaper window.

4.2 Historic Price

• Mini chart of historical prices using a step-end line. Axes are hidden for a clean glance view.
• Use this to understand trend context (e.g., sustained highs vs. typical ranges).

4.3 Consumption

• Displays YTD energy use. Values are summarized in kWh.
• As more data is available, additional breakdowns may appear in the dedicated view.

4.4 Optimize

• Tools and views for planning usage during favorable price periods.
• Combine with the live arrow signal to schedule flexible tasks.

4.5 YOY (Year‑Over‑Year)

• Compares current period vs. previous year(s) to reveal seasonal or behavioral shifts.

4.6 Miscellaneous

• Assorted utilities and settings surfaced by the app that don’t fit other tabs.

4.7 Premium Access

• Locked items route here. Subscribe to unlock Price, Historic Price, Consumption, Optimize, and YOY.
• Use Restore Purchases if you’ve already subscribed on another device with the same Apple ID.

5. Premium Access & Billing

Power Price Watch uses Apple’s in‑app subscriptions. The app listens for your subscription status and unlocks features when you’re Subscribed, In Grace Period, or In Billing Retry.

Managing Your Subscription

• Open Premium from the destination list when a feature shows a lock.
• Subscribe using the on‑screen options.
• To re‑enable access on a new device, tap Restore Purchases.
• Policies are available via in‑app links to Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

6. Settings & Actions

Tap the gear icon in the top‑right to open the action sheet:

• Refresh — Fetches the latest prices and data.
• Factory Reset — Clears app state and returns defaults (also re‑enables the overview tiles).
• Show/Hide Overview — Toggles the dashboard-style previews for unlocked destinations (Premium only).
• Reset Help Flags — Replays tutorial or guidance cues if the app provides them.
• Cancel — Closes the menu.

After subscription status changes, the app updates internal settings and refreshes widgets automatically.

7. Widgets

The app integrates with the system’s widget framework to surface quick‑glance information. When your Premium status changes or data updates, widgets are refreshed to keep information current.

8. Troubleshooting

Common States

• Waiting for Session Information from companion iOS APP — Open the companion iOS app to initialize the session.
• Refreshing… — Data is updating. If it persists unusually long, use Refresh from the gear menu.
• Error Message Visible — Read the details. Use Refresh. If the issue persists, try Factory Reset.

Data Not Appearing

• Ensure the companion app is installed and running for session hand‑off.
• Verify network connectivity.
• Confirm your subscription is active if features remain locked.

Why are some destinations dimmed?

The app shows all destinations at all times. Items that lack required data are dimmed, but you can still open them to see what’s needed.

What do the arrows next to the time window mean?

They indicate the direction of the upcoming price compared to the current one: ↑ rising, ↓ falling, → unchanged.

How are the gauge colors determined?

The gauge maps current price within today’s min–max range along a green→yellow→red gradient. The closer to red, the higher the current price relative to today.

Can I use the app without Premium?

You can browse the interface and Misc tools. Premium unlocks live price, history, consumption, optimization, and YOY views.

How do I restore my subscription?

Open Premium and select Restore Purchases.

• Spot Price — Real‑time market price for electricity at a given hour.
• YOY — Year‑over‑Year; comparing a value to the same period in the prior year.
• YTD — Year‑to‑Date; cumulative value since January 1 of the current year.
• Restore Purchases — Apple flow to re‑apply prior in‑app purchases to your device.
